My internship program at Sabah Environmental Trust (SET) has been an eye-opening, transformative and a very invaluable experience. During my time here, I was given the opportunity to work on a variety of environmental conservation projects and collaborate with a team of passionate professionals dedicated to preserving Sabah’s natural heritage. My internship provided me with hands-on experience in field monitoring, project management, environmental research, and community outreach. These experiences not only reinforced what I have learned in my studies but also taught me new practical skills which includes the usage of field equipment such as GPS device and wildlife camera traps, data management that includes collection and analysis as well as wildlife tracking which is by identifying and following wildlife signs and tracks. Working with SET has shown me the critical importance of sustainable practices and the ongoing efforts needed to protect our environment. The guidance and mentorship I received from the team have been crucial in helping me grow both professionally and personally, instilling in myself a stronger sense of responsibility towards environmental stewardship.
