A continuation of the initiative for another 3 years by the key organisations, ie. Sabah Foundation (SF), Sabah Forestry Department (SFD), with a new addition of Sabah Wildlife Department (SWD) was materialised in a MoU signing ceremony on 23rd August 2022 held in Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The new MoU outlines new objectives as follows:
- To support the protection of the biodiversity in DaMaI Rainforest Landscape (DRL);
- To enhance the capacity of the dedicated teams and other forest rangers in DRL; and
- To support the efforts in nominating DRL as a World Heritage site.
In the new MoU, the programme focuses more on working on the ground implementing the Global Park Defence, and continues in supporting the agencies in terms of equipment for monitoring (such as wildlife and cellular camera traps), SMART training, and hiring of 6 new rangers and 1 officer under the Sabah Foundation.
